The splitting isn't too bad, I was running 8 targets and 2 squads (20 marksdorfs). Create 120 stacks of 25, split them, melt them. You don't really want to be splitting at the same time as melting as a bolt designated for melt might still be used for training and lowering the yield. Either splitting (via archery ranges, mostly, see end notes) or melting. But fuck this, I can enterprise! If the process can be reasonably streamlined - it still might be at least somewhat cool.Īt the end of this test I was running cycles. (25 bolts made from one bar, 20ish bolts recovered, yields 2 bars. For every 25 bolts made, split and melted, I'm averaging a net of 1 bar. I have to see if I can scale this up! Doing a bunch of work for a single net bar - well, that's not very exciting. Small batches only so far and the returns aren't great, and Iron is sort of ok. But the process I've been using is very non enterprise. Iron works! Ok, that's the best metal so far. Oh noes! Probably melted another 20 just to prove. I melted about 20 candy bolts and I had no bars to show for it at the end. Erry dorf ensconced in candy robes, cuz fuck you, I roll like that. I was going to explore unheralded levels of wealth. Candy walls, candy bins, candy everything. Candy is a very valuable and finite resource on maps and I thought duping candy made me a pretty clever Urist. There are wrinkles and difficulties involved.ĭuping candy was the primary reason to test this out. If you split the bolt stack (by training, for example) a fortress should be able to 'create' metal.Īnd it works. However it only costs 1 bar to create 25 bolts. The premise is that a single bolt, when melted, yields 0.1 bar. Well, not like in a field farming - but some creative somewhat exploity stuff that I wanted to test. No other metal, no iron, no tin, etc other than one Z of tetrahedrite and candy spires.Īnyways, back to the thing. Just a smidge of copper (and a smaller smidge of silver) is all I could find. So, in my current fort I decided to explore the potential and attempt to discover efficiencies in metal farming.įor proof of concept or a sign from Armok - the map has very little metal.
